New Ride, Same Result, Boespflug Wins Again

PETERSEN MEDIA- After taking a wild ride in Paul Hazen’s No.57 on Friday night in Gas City, IN, Chad Boespflug hopped aboard the SST Motorsports No.41 in Putnamville on Saturday night and scored another win, in what has been a dominant Summer for the California transplant.

“We had a mishap on Friday night, and I really can’t thank the Stensland’s enough for giving me the opportunity to drive their car on Saturday,” Boespflug said.

Friday night at I 69 Speedway wasn’t all bad for Boespflug, as his night started with him charging from his seventh starting spot in heat race action to score the win, putting him on the pole of the feature event.

Starting alongside AJ Hopkins, Boespflug lost the race into turn one, and as he looked for real estate to get around him, he slipped to the third spot, as Darland, who was piloting the SST Motorsports No. 41 machine, snuck past him.

Looking to get around Darland on the high-side, Boespflug smoked the cushion, and upset his machine. Saving it as it bicycled, the car came down, and as the left side hit the ground, Boespflug was off for a pretty good ride, causing severe damage to the Hazen No.57, and looked like Boespflug’s weekend was over.

“I though I had it saved, but it came down, and off I went,” he explained. “It is getting a front clip put on it, and it will be ready for the Kokomo Smackdown.”

After Darland picked up the victory, Dave Stensland, the SST motorsports team owner, approached Chad about racing for them Saturday night as Darland had other commitments.

Boespflug unbolted his seat, and met up with the new team on Saturday night at the speedway.

Starting second in his heat again, Boespflug adapted well to the new car, as he worked his way up to a second place finish, and as fate would have it, he found himself on the pole again.

Sharing the front row with Casey Shuman, Boespflug got the jump, but Shuman stayed in shouting distance, as the duo battled for a pair of laps.

With Boespflug finding the high-side to his liking, he quickly distanced himself from Shuman and the rest of the field, as he had the race in command from flag to flag.

When it was all over, Boespflug found himself in victory lane, again, as he was able to lap up to 10th place.

“It is a great feeling to come back and win with the Stensland’s,” he said. “We set out just to have a fun night of racing, and it turned in to much more than that. I am so happy, and am looking to get the 57 in victory lane next weekend.”
