Boespflug Weekend Recap

Plainfield, IN - A busy holiday weekend started off with a two day show honoring the late Bill Gardner at Lincoln Park Speedway. Night 1 of the Bill Gardner Sprintacular was a MSCS Event while NIght 2 was a USAC Event. Sunday saw Chad and the Amati Race Team heading north to Kokomo Speedway for the first time as a pair for the start of the Indiana Sprint Car Series.

Night 1 at LPS went off of MSCS format therefore pill draw would line up heat races and the feature inversion, with transferring the top 16 in accumulated passing points from the heat races to the feature. Passing points worked in Chad's favor as a not so good pill draw put him starting mid pack in his heat race. Starting 5th and finishing 2nd found Chad in the top 16 in passing points transferring him on to the feature. However his performance in his heat not only locked him into the AMain, but put him in the inversion as well. By making the inversion he would start in the second row for the AMain. He went on to finish 6th in the AMain. Chad feels they car needed to be a little better for them to finish further forward.

Night 2 at LPS went off of USAC format therefore time trials would line up heat races and the feature would go back to time trial results as well if you make it through the heats. A strong field of 40 AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Cars filled the pits for night 2. Chad qualified 11th overall earning him a 4th place starting spot for the heat race. Chad proved the strong field of cars was no challenge to him after winning his heat race. Although the AMain goes back to time trials with a few cars failing to transfer through their heat races thus advancing his starting position to 3rd for the AMain. A race track that was primarily one lane on the bottom made it tough to pass so Chad looked elsewhere to make his moves. Moving up to the top groove might not have been the best move of the night for him as he lost a few spot but he didn't feel he could gain any ground on the bottom either. Missing the podium by one finishing 4th Chad and the Amati Racing Team were still pleased with their performance against the strong field.

Sunday kicked off the start of the Indiana Sprint Car Series with Night 1 of 6 at Kokomo Speedway. The ISCS is a series of 6 races all to be televised on MAVtv. After visiting all 5 venues a series champion will be crowned. The teams first visit to Kokomo wasn't their best performace together, but still managed a top 10 finish after starting 16th and are able to take away tools and lessons for their next outing at Kokomo this weekend for Night 3 of USAC ISW. The team has traveled back to the Southern Illinois based shop where they will prepare for the start of AMSOIL USAC Indiana Sprint Week which kicks off Friday.
